Smart Green Factory Academy, Yaoundé & Kribi
The project opens new career opportunities for young people, particularly women, and strengthens their skills for sustainable entrepreneurship. Through practical training and mentoring, participants develop their own business ideas and create new income opportunities in their communities.
The project
Cameroon has a young and growing population, yet many young people lack access to career opportunities. Young women in particular often have limited access to practical training, entrepreneurial skills and professional networks. This project creates opportunities that can have a lasting impact in local communities.
At the Academy in Yaoundé and Kribi, young people gain practical skills and develop their own business ideas. Training sessions, workshops, mentoring and hands-on projects combine sustainable agriculture, food processing, the circular economy, digitalisation and entrepreneurship. Participants learn to identify challenges in their communities and turn them into viable business solutions.
A particular focus is placed on strengthening the economic opportunities of young women. Participants learn how to process local resources, develop marketable products and use digital platforms for marketing and networking. This creates new income opportunities and keeps value within local communities.
The Academy connects young entrepreneurs with agricultural cooperatives, local communities and other partners. Together, they develop new ideas, partnerships and sustainable business models. Young people are not only prepared for the job market, but also encouraged to create jobs and develop solutions for their communities.
In the long term, the Smart Green Factory Academy aims to become a regional centre for green innovation, sustainable entrepreneurship and vocational training. It gives young people the opportunity to shape their own future in Cameroon while contributing to the sustainable development of their communities.
