help alliance Portugal founded
On 29 June, help alliance officially launched help alliance Portugal at Casa da Música in Porto, marking an important step in strengthening its commitment to local partnerships across Europe. Building on existing education and integration initiatives, the new organization provides a platform to expand successful projects, deepen collaboration with local partners and develop new initiatives.
Many Lufthansa Group employees and local partners are already actively involved in social projects across Portugal. help alliance Portugal brings these efforts together, strengthens regional partnerships and creates new opportunities to support young people on their path to education, vocational training and employment.
Projects creating opportunities
The “Seeds of Future” project in the Douro region is one example of this approach. It supports young people throughout their educational journey by providing tailored learning support, psychosocial counselling and career guidance. In doing so, it helps them build the skills and confidence they need for vocational training, employment and an independent future.
The help alliance Community Portugal also promotes social inclusion through a project that supports refugees. Participants develop new skills, produce handcrafted goods and improve their opportunities to generate an income while building a new life in Portugal.
Strengthening local partnerships
The establishment of help alliance Portugal will enable initiatives like these to grow further, while creating new opportunities to expand local partnerships and access funding within Portugal. This reflects a principle that has guided help alliance since its foundation: lasting change is achieved when people take responsibility for shaping the future of their own communities.
Another important milestone is the cooperation with the Portuguese innovation centre CEiiA. Together, the partners aim to develop projects at the intersection of social inclusion, education and sustainable mobility, including collaborations with initiatives such as Be Neutral (BEN), BEN Social and Football for Climate.
Employee engagement as a driving force
The growing Lufthansa Group presence in Portugal also plays an important role. Around 500 employees are currently based in the country, and with the expansion of Lufthansa Technik Portugal, this number is expected to exceed 1,300 by 2028. help alliance Portugal offers them a platform to get involved in local social projects and contribute their skills where they can make a meaningful difference.
