Working together with refugees for other people – an initiative of the Process Improvement Department of Lufthansa Technik (LHT) together with help alliance partner Basis&Woge

In December 2017 the Process Improvement Department of Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg together with help alliance project partner Basis&Woge (BW) organized a somewhat different Christmas party. The aid organization of the Lufthansa Group has been supporting the BW association since the summer of 2015 and is thus committed to providing career prospects for refugees in the Hanseatic city. The event took place in the port of Hamburg in the warehouse of HanseaticHelp. HanseaticHelp is an association that has been providing people in need with clothing and other donations since autumn 2015. There the ten young refugees met the Lufthansa team. After getting to know each other, the participants worked together at different stations.

In the warehouse, clothing for men, women and children was sorted by category and size, and the lean expertise was expertly applied by the Process Improvement Team for efficient crate packing and logistical planning. All helpers enjoyed working together and it was a great opportunity to get into conversation with each other. “What I found particularly great about this campaign was that different people worked together for a good cause,” said Bettina Sobszak from Basis&Woge. After successful work all helpers went out to eat together and sat together until late in the evening. In addition to exchanging small gifts, the young men were also invited to visit the LHT base, planned for spring 2018.

The event was organized by the team of HanseaticHelp, Laura Maria Kreuzkamp and Inga Holtmann from the Process Improvement department and Bettina Sobczak and Imke Schaffitzel from Basis&Woge.
