Red socks for a good cause

Austrian Airlines supports the help alliance project iThemba in South Africa with various fundraising campaigns / Great success with the sale of red socks

Austrian Airlines and help alliance have been partners for many years. The intensive cooperation with the children of the iThemba School began when the iThemba Kids gave a name to the latest addition of an Austrian-Boeing 777 to the fleet: Sibanye. This cooperation was continued at the Austrian 60th anniversary and on the occasion of the first flight to Cape Town in 2018. In the meantime, numerous internal and external campaigns have collected over 65,000 euros for the children, both from employees and Austrian passengers.

One example of these activities was the “Red Stockings Day” in September 2019, for which Austrian Airlines offered the Austrian Crews’ famous signature red tights for sale internally and externally. For men, “Falke South Africa” produced socks in the original Austrian red. Also the children of the iThemba school got red socks and visibly enjoy wearing them.

And the Austrian engagement continues!
