Innovative Learning Labs, Ukraine-wide

Pereiaslav/ Kamianske/ Nizhyn/ Vinnitsia - Ukraine

The Russian invasion caused Ukrainian schools to close or operate on a hybrid or remote curriculum, severely impacting children’s education. Online schooling fails to provide adequate social skills and hands-on learning activities, further disadvantaging children. We are establishing four Innovation Learning Labs in four Ukrainian locations  to provide quality education to children and youth.

Project Background

Access to high quality, interactive education is increasing through Innovation Learning Labs, bringing hope and opportunity to communities in Ukraine.

In January 2023, our partner organisation opened the first Innovation Learning Lab in Ternopil, Ukraine and has already welcomed more than 14,000 children, families, and school groups.
Following this success, four more Innovation Learning Labs will be established in the cities of Pereiaslav, Kamianske, Nizhyn and Vinnitsia.

Working with the Ukrainian Ministry of Family, Youth, and Sport, our partner organisation is transforming community centers into vibrant spaces that inspire learning and healing. By renovating and equipping them with the necessary materials, they are ensuring that every child has a welcoming environment in which to thrive. The centers also serve as certified bomb shelters, providing a safe haven, where children can learn without fear.

The Innovation Learning Labs offer a wide range of experiences for children to engage with. From interactive exhibits on health and anatomy to creative workshops that encourage problem-solving and teamwork, these labs inspire a passion for learning. Children can immerse themselves in the wonders of engineering, aviation, and more, all while developing essential soft skills like communication and critical thinking.

But the impact of the Learning Labs goes beyond the classroom. Working with other local partners, our partner organization provides vital programs and support to the community. This includes art therapy, group psychotherapy, sexual health and wellness training, and various community events.

Local coordinators and town halls are actively involved to ensure the sustainability of the Innovation Learning Labs for future generations.

Target Group

The Innovation Learning Lab provides interactive educational experiences for school-aged children and young adults between the ages of 6 and 25.

Project Targets

The Innovation Learning Labs are more than just classrooms. They are places where children’s dreams come to life.

School-age children discover their own creativity, learn to think outside the box, solve impossible problems, and make lifelong connections with their peers.
Young adults often lack a positive outlook on personal growth and their future. These educational programs show them that they are in control of shaping their future.

Parents, grandparents, and caregivers are invited to participate on the activities, promoting healthier families and communities.

It also increases children’s understanding of science and technology. Our partner organization fills educational gaps and introduces children to STEM careers.

Finally, the children’s psychological well-being is enhanced through interactive learning and exploration.
