The help alliance On-Site Event 2023

30. November 2023

PROJECT COORDINATORS AND COMMUNITY LEADS CAME TOGETHER TO CELEBRATE THEIR COMMITMENT TO HELP ALLIANCE.

Since help alliance was founded in 1999, the voluntary commitment of Lufthansa Group employees has been at the forefront. Each help alliance project is supervised and coordinated by an employee as a volunteer project coordinator to give children and young people around the world the chance of a self-determined future.
The community leads coordinate the local help alliance communities. At around 70 Lufthansa Group locations worldwide, committed employees have joined together to form help alliance communities to do good together on a voluntary basis.

On 27 and 28 November, the global help alliance family met at the Lufthansa Conference Hotel Seeheim for the second “help alliance On-Site Event”. The commited colleagues from various airlines and business units of the Lufthansa Group travelled from Australia, Japan and the USA, among other countries, to take part in the event.

On the first day, Andrea Pernkopf, Managing Director of help alliance, warmly welcomed all participants and gave an overview of the highlights of 2023.
In a breakout session, the participants were then able to get active themselves and share their community and project highlights.
Vivian Spohr, patroness of help alliance, also attended the event and was impressed by the positive help alliance spirit.

Corporate volunteering is becoming increasingly important. help alliance supports and facilitates volunteering in projects and local communities, as well as participation in projects in which employees share specific knowledge and expertise. In a panel discussion, project coordinators and community leads spoke about the impact of volunteering, highlighting – among other points – the positive impact on employee motivation. However, it was also clear that many employees would like to see more support from management.

On Tuesday, Jeanette Kern, local director of the “Holistic School” project in India, gave a powerful keynote speech, using three impact stories to illustrate the difference that access to education and empowerment can make in the lives of children and young people.

Participants were then able to attend workshops on key topics such as design thinking, diversity, fundraising, and sustainable agriculture and share their experiences and expertise.

The second help alliance on-site event once again demonstrated the importance of face-to-face meetings. In personal conversations, project coordinators and community leads were able to share ideas and talk about their experiences and ideas. The help alliance team would like to wholeheartedly thank all participants and colleagues who are working together to create a more just world.
