Employee campaign brings smiles throughout the Lufthansa Group

A great idea: With pinned buttons showing their faces, employees of a hospital in Germany have managed to reduce the emotional distance to their patients in times of pandemic. Inspired by this, Lufthansa Group employees from Frankfurt and Munich started the button campaign #MySmileBehindTheMask in summer. Despite this extraordinary time and the high level of anonymity due to the Corona masks, the buttons were used to maintain personal contact between employees and customers.

Committed colleagues from the entire Lufthansa Group – from Lufthansa Airlines at the locations Frankfurt and Munich as well as Austrian Airlines in Vienna, Edelweiss in Zurich and LZ Catering – participated in the campaign. A personal button with their smiling face was created for all interested employees. And in keeping with the motto “Smile and do good”, participants who had a personal button made could donate an amount of their choice to help alliance. Thanks to this campaign, an impressive total of more than 12,500 euros was donated. The entire proceeds flow 100% into help alliance’s worldwide aid projects and benefit disadvantaged people who, in times of the pandemic, are more dependent than ever on our support and commitment to help.

Big thank you

At this point, we would like to thank all supporters, donors and button wearers. help alliance says thank you for the many hours spent at the booths, the making of thousands of buttons, the organizational work in the preparation and the various forms of communication via social media. The campaign #MySmileBehindTheMask is a great example of how the idea and initiative of a few employees can become a large, Lufthansa Group-wide campaign with great impact.
