Emergency aid for earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria

08. February 2023

A strong network for the people in Turkey

We are all shocked by the indescribable extent of the destruction and human suffering caused by the devastating earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

In this tragic situation, we as an aid organization of the Lufthansa Group want to help those affected in the region together with our partners.

For this purpose, help alliance has set up this donation page.

Monetary donations have the great advantage that they can be used quickly and flexibly for what is needed most urgently at the moment. That is why we work closely with our Turkish colleagues from SunExpress, who are active in the region. The collected donations will be used to financially support the Turkish relief organization AHBAP to purchase the following urgently needed relief supplies:

– Tents and emergency shelters

– Water and food

– children’s clothing

– hygiene products

– generators

– food items

We are in constant contact with our colleagues on the ground and will inform you here about other donation possibilities.

Support for Syria too

While international aid in Turkey is running at full speed, the people in northern Syria are despairing. Therefore, it is important to us that the affected people in this region are also helped through your donations.

help alliance is glad to have Zeltschule e.V. as a partner organisation that has been active in this war-torn region for many years. Our partner organisation Zeltschule e.V. runs schools at 17 locations in Syria and provides 2500 people with basic necessities.

Not only were the refugee camps destroyed by the earthquake on 6 February, 9 schools were also severely damaged by the earthquake, and the associated bakery was completely ruined. Your support will enable the unbureaucratic delivery of urgently needed relief supplies such as heating material, building materials, food and water tanks. Since the water tanks in the refugee camps have been destroyed, there is an acute shortage of clean drinking water. This has already led to the first cases of cholera. Therefore, it is enormously important at the moment that with your donation the hygienic conditions in the camps are improved again, so that epidemics can not spread further.
