help alliance CleanUp Weeks 2026: Together for a Cleaner Environment

13. October 2026

This year’s CleanUp Weeks became much more than a series of local activities: 6,873 people took action for a cleaner environment at 37 locations worldwide. Together, they collected 4,767 bags of litter, triggering donations of €23,837.50 for help alliance projects around the globe.

Lufthansa Group colleagues, communities, project teams, as well as family and friends brought the CleanUp Weeks to life and demonstrated what is possible when many people join forces. From Catbalogan and Vienna to Delhi, people collected, sorted and removed waste, turning many local initiatives into a global movement for a cleaner environment.

One particularly impressive contribution came from Austrian Airlines: More than 325 flight attendants collected waste on board as part of a Cabin CleanUp, contributing over 1,000 bags to the overall result.

The power of community engagement was also clearly visible in the Philippines. More than 1,000 volunteers took part in a Coastal CleanUp along the shoreline. In Catbalogan, several thousand people joined the effort and collected more than 3,600 bags of litter. Colleagues from Lufthansa Global Business Services, Lufthansa InTouch, Lufthansa Service Philippines and Lufthansa Technical Training Philippines also supported local CleanUp activities.

In Germany, colleagues from various Lufthansa Group companies participated in the CleanUp Weeks, including Eurowings employees who joined the Rheinkippen CleanUp together with local volunteers. The Zurich Community also took action, collecting litter around the SWISS headquarters and employee parking area. Another highlight took place in Zanzibar, where children from a project, colleagues from the Lufthansa Group station, ZNZSM and the Crew Hotel team joined forces for a CleanUp effort.

A big thank you to everyone who took part in the CleanUp Weeks. Every bag collected counted. Together, 4,767 bags of litter were collected, generating €23,837.50 for help alliance projects. A strong reminder of what can be achieved when people around the world come together and take responsibility.
