40 new donations pillars / Greater visibility and reach for help alliance

Today, help alliance, the aid organisation of the Lufthansa Group, and the airport operator Fraport AG have put up 40 new donation pillars at Frankfurt Airport. The pillars allow passengers and visitors of the airport to donate coins and bank notes for a good cause.

The aim of the cooperation is to collect 80,000 to 100,000 euros each year for social projects. Half of the proceeds go to help alliance’s educational projects in Africa, including the construction of a new primary school in Cape Town, the training of young entrepreneurs in Nigeria and Rwanda or the set-up of a science room in a school in Kenya.

“On the basis of this long-standing cooperation we are able to set a new milestone in the support of social aid projects”, says a happy Rainer Gomolluch, who is responsible for regional promotion at Fraport AG.

Joachim Steinbach, managing director of help alliance, emphasises: “We are grateful that Fraport AG has been actively supporting us for many years in enabling children and young people around the world access to education. The 40 new donation pillars help us in two ways: The donations help us support even more girls and boys, and at the same time the pillars raise awareness for help alliance”.

At the suggestion of Fraport AG, 25 percent of the donations will go to the “Ocean Clean Up” project, which aims to collect and recycle in an eco-friendly way the “plastic islands” that are forming in the world’s oceans. Another 25 percent goes to the “aviation without borders” association, which organises the transport and distribution of aid supplies to crisis regions around the world.
