Golfing for a Good Cause: Creating Better Educational Opportunities in Portugal Together

27. October 2026

On 18 October, numerous participants, companies and partners came together at the Oporto Golf Club in Espinho for the first charity golf tournament organised by help alliance Portugal, with one shared goal: supporting children and families in the Douro region. The auction alone raised €11,000 for a good cause.

Just a few months after its official launch in June, help alliance Portugal demonstrated the power of collective commitment with its first charity golf tournament. Alongside the sporting competition, the event focused on one goal above all: bringing people and companies together to provide support where it is needed most.

Concrete Support for Children and Families

All donations raised will go directly towards projects to be implemented together with local partner organisation Bagos d’Ouro. Since 2010, the organisation has been supporting children and young people from economically disadvantaged families in the Douro region, helping them along their educational journey.

The donations will be used, among other things, to create dedicated study spaces in the homes of children and young people, giving them better conditions for learning at home. Further initiatives include Christmas packages for families and the rebuilding of a family home in the Douro region.

Achieving More Together

The golf tournament shows what can be achieved when people join forces. While Bagos d’Ouro supports children and families in the Douro region on their educational journey, help alliance Portugal brought together numerous companies and supporters to strengthen this work. The donations raised will help improve learning conditions for children and provide targeted support to local families.

Numerous companies and organisations supported the event, including CEiiA, Mastercard, Symington, Lufthansa LGSP and many other partners.

A heartfelt thank you to all participants, sponsors and partners who made this tournament possible and contributed to creating better opportunities for children and families in the Douro region.
