Inclusion rocks, Hamburg
In this project, Children, adolescents and young adults with Down syndrome are supported in their social and emotional development through a continuous music program designed to meet their needs in terms of growth and individual needs.

Project background
In December 2006, the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) adopted a Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities for Equal Participation in Society. According to this, people with Down syndrome have the right to a self-determined life and equal participation in society. However, in the context of teacher training in Germany, there is still a lack of suitable training and further qualification for more inclusive education. There are also still insufficient consulting and other support services for schools, scientific institutes, associations and NGOs.
To address the above-mentioned problems, help alliance is supporting the project “Inclusion rocks for everyone” together with KIDS Hamburg e. V. (Down syndrome competence and information center). Music appeals to all people on an emotional level and opens up opportunities for social participation. The Project focuses on the special needs of people with Down syndrome and uses music to create an inclusive learning environment to improve their communication skills.
Target group
The target group of the project are children, adolescents and young adults with Down syndrome.
