The help alliance project portfolio 2026
In 2026, numerous new projects will be added to the help alliance project portfolio: 25 new development projects and ten new community projects. In total, the aid organization will support 63 development and 24 community projects at Lufthansa Group locations around the world. The aim is clear: to give young people worldwide access to education, training, and a self-determined life. Each project is the result of the commitment of Lufthansa Group employees and has an impact precisely where long-term change is possible.
The development projects are at the heart of the international commitment. They run over several years and are implemented in collaboration with experienced local partner organizations. The focus is on access to education, training programs, and entry into the labor market for young adults. In addition, sustainable education in the field of environmental and climate protection as well as projects that strengthen an open, inclusive, and democratic society are also promoted.
Of the 25 new development projects, ten are located in Africa, seven new projects are being launched in Europe, four in Asia, and two each in Latin America and the MENAT region. The aim is always to build structures that are sustainable in the long term and contribute to achieving the United Nations’ global sustainability goals.
Development projects are initiated and supervised on a voluntary basis by employees. The new project coordinators come from a wide range of areas within the Lufthansa Group – from airlines such as Lufthansa, Edelweiss, Eurowings, Discover, and AUA to business units such as Lufthansa Technik, Cargo, and Consulting.
In addition to development projects, help alliance also supports community projects and thus the practical involvement of colleagues on site. In addition to financial support from help alliance, Lufthansa Group employees contribute above all their time, knowledge, and personal energy. This year, there are 24 community projects at Lufthansa Group locations, for example in Japan, Egypt, Cameroon, and Ireland. The activities are geared toward local needs: from reading support and social assistance in soup kitchens to concrete improvements to school buildings and learning environments.
2026 shows once again that individual commitment can make a big difference. And together, this can lead to lasting change.
