A change in help alliance’s Management

26. April 2018

Andrea Pernkopf is taking over the management of help alliance from Joachim Steinbach

As of 1st April 2018, help alliance has a new CEO. Andrea Pernkopf succeeds Joachim Steinbach, who has now retired. Together with Co-Managing Director, Susanne Kotysch, who is also responsible for the Corporate Responsibility Communications & Events division of the Lufthansa Group, she is the new dual head of the Lufthansa Group’s aid organization. An Austrian by birth, she has already worked for help alliance for many years.

“With Andrea Pernkopf, we have gained an outstanding manager for help alliance, one who has great operational and strategic experience and is well-connected within our company,” says Andreas Bartels, authorized representative of help alliance and Head of Lufthansa Group Communications.

“We would like to thank Joachim Steinbach for his faithful cooperation and wish him well in his well-deserved retirement.” Over the course of the past 3 years, Steinbach has been responsible for transforming the association, founded by Lufthansa employees in 1999, into a non-profit limited liability company, initially as Chief Representative of the company, later as a Managing Director. As a result, the company’s profile has been sharpened up and integration with the Lufthansa Group expanded. Under his aegis, the Lufthansa Group was the ninth DAX-30 company to introduce the voluntary salary donation for employees:, so-called Payroll Giving.

“I’m very much looking forward to the new task and am taking over a well-established help alliance,” Pernkopf stated. “My goal is to make even greater use of the great potential that help alliance has. Together with the Lufthansa Group’s many volunteers, we will provide even more disadvantaged children and young people around the world with access to educational institutions and thus enable them to enjoy a self-determined life.”

Andrea Pernkopf started her career in the Lufthansa Group in 1991, subsequently assuming various management functions in both operational and strategic areas. Prior to joining help alliance, she was responsible in the field of Ancillary Services for the network carriers of Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian Airlines and was also Head of Product Management & Innovation at Austrian Airlines. Pernkopf is married and has two children.
