Solidarity in digital times
Seven ways to show solidarity with the beneficiaries of help alliance projects through a digital donation
One of the most used keywords of the past months is the term solidarity. It refers to an attitude that describes the mutual support for each other in the community. Since the beginning of the month we are again in a lockdown situation in Germany. Against the background of the rapidly increasing number of cases, this is undoubtedly necessary, but for many of us it is nevertheless a phase of mixed feelings. In the current time we and especially disadvantaged people, in Germany but also all over the world, are more than ever dependent on the helpfulness, empathy and cohesion among each other.
At help alliance we have used the latest time to develop seven ways for you to show solidarity with the beneficiaries of our projects with your digital donation. Have a look at them!
1) Digital creative workshops, DIY kits and prints by craftherz
Dedicated Lufthansa Group colleagues used the lockdown time to let off steam creatively at the craft table at home. The result is craftherz – a combination of creative activity (craft) and the opportunity to do good (herz). craftherz offers digital macramé workshops, DIY kits and prints. All profits are donated to help alliance. What are you waiting for, let us be creative for a good cause!

2) Digital help alliance cookbook
Cooking and eating together connects people and cultures. That is why we have launched the culinary campaign “Cook to Help”. Everyone who supports this campaign with a donation will receive the new digital cookbook from help alliance as a thank-you gift. Have fun cooking!

3) help alliance gift shop
With a donation as a gift you not only make your loved ones happy, but at the same time you help people in need worldwide. For each donation you will immediately receive an individually designed certificate by email. And the best thing about it: You decide yourself what happens with your money.

4) Digital donation baubles for 24 small wishes
Would you put a toothbrush, winter socks, fresh fruit or a haircut on your Christmas wish list? Probably not, but for the 265 children in the Sunshine Project, School Education and a Happy Childhood for Slum Children in New Delhi, India, this is not something that happens every day. As part of this special Christmas campaign, the children have formulated a total of 24 small wishes, like an Advent calendar. By purchasing digital donation baubles you help to fulfill these wishes.

5) Virtual aviatiors' Christmas market
Creative gift ideas from aviators for aviators (and of course for everyone else) are offered by the virtual aviators’ Christmas market from November 16 – December 6, 2020. Due to the Corona situation, the Christmas market, which has been organized every year since 2017, unfortunately cannot take place as usual at the Lufthansa base in Frankfurt. In order to continue the tradition, the Christmas market therefore takes place virtually this year. As always, a part of the sales proceeds will go to help alliance. Have fun with virtual browsing and shopping.

6) Christmas star campaign goes digital
This year again, the Lufthansa Young Network Christmas star campaign takes place in Frankfurt. Instead of fulfilling individual wishes of disadvantaged children in social institutions, the institutions were asked to consider a group wish. In order to collect the necessary donations digitally, money pools were set up in PayPal. This way, the wishes of the children in the project “Protection against exploitation and child trafficking for street children” of help alliance together with the Human Help Network Foundation Thailand can be fulfilled this year again. The project needs your help in financing school uniforms.

Further information about the Christmas star campaign and the money pools of the various social institutions can be found here (Lufthansa Group intranet only): https://bit.ly/Weihnachtsstern_Aktion_LYN
Note: a PayPal account is not required for participation and the money pools are open for your donations until 17 December 2020.

7) Online shopping and donating
help alliance is listed at Amazon.Smile as a non-profit organization. Under this program, Amazon donates for every purchase a small portion of your purchase amount (0.5% of the purchase value) to a social organization of your choice – at no extra cost to you or us. So you can do good with your online shopping and support help alliance.
