IT helps – New website for project in Leona

27. August 2020

The project “Perspectives for young people” in Leona, Senegal has received a new website with the support of trainees from Lufthansa Industry Solutions

The local partner organization of help alliance, the Keur Mame Fatim Konté Center in Senegal, is involved in various educational projects and offers for the regional Senegalese population. The common goal: To offer young people new perspectives. They are supported by various organizations. help alliance has been one of these valuable supporters for years and together with the center has accompanied many young people on their way. For the further presence and visibility in the regional and international environment, help alliance established contact to the IT experts of Lufthansa Industry Solutions (LHIND). With the support of LHIND, the trainees have created a website for and about the Keur Mame Fatim Konté as part of their training. “It was important for LHIND to give our trainees the chance to participate in such an important and interesting IT project and at the same time support a great charitable project,” says training manager Michael Petzold.

Thanks to the good cooperation between the trainees, the IT experts and the project coordinator Rita Diop, it was possible to create a new website and to present the work of the initiative to the public. The new website is a great opportunity to find further supporters, especially in Senegal, in order to establish the center as an important institution in the region in the long term.

“Working with the three young people was really a lot of fun despite the difficult conditions and the result is absolutely impressive. My partners in Saint-Louis are delighted.”

The trainees used the content management system WordPress to create the website. The content and presentation requirements of the project representatives were decisive in determining how the design should ultimately look – modern and with Senegalese flair. Petzold adds: “Despite the current global difficulties, an instructive and exciting project was successfully implemented. A drop of bitterness remains – a personal visit to Senegal was unfortunately not possible”.

After this successful start, the cooperation between the LHIND training department and help alliance is to be continued. For selected IT projects, the help alliance projects can therefore count on the support of the next trainee years in the future.
