Commitment that connects

Global projects, local communities, social engagement: this is how Lufthansa Group employees are shaping the future.

Today, on International Volunteer Day, the focus is on the voluntary commitment of people around the world. The work of Lufthansa Group employees who go above and beyond their professional duties is also being recognized. They provide support in a variety of ways and offer their work and help where it is most urgently needed.

The volunteer project coordinators at help alliance, who work at various Group airlines and business units, are a prime example of this multifaceted social commitment. In around 70 help alliance projects worldwide, they are committed to ensuring that young people have better opportunities for education, training, and a self-determined life. This commitment is complemented by numerous communities at various Lufthansa Group locations, where employees organize themselves locally and have a direct impact in their immediate environment—in the form of campaigns, donation initiatives, or practical help on site.

At the same time, numerous Lufthansa Group employees are also involved in activities outside of help alliance. Whether it’s social support, political work, involvement in cultural projects, or sports clubs, volunteers everywhere contribute their time, expertise, and empathy. This spirit of cooperation also shapes collaboration within the Group and reflects the responsible attitude of many colleagues.

“The social commitment of our employees is a visible expression of our values: taking responsibility, empowering people, and shaping the future together. We do this every day in the various companies of the Lufthansa Group, and many employees also do this on a voluntary basis in their free time or during layovers between flights. Every single contribution makes a difference. That deserves our recognition and sincere thanks,” says Michael Niggemann, Chief Officer Human Resources & Legal Officer of the Lufthansa Group.
