help alliance is a non-profit organization founded in 1999 by employees of the Lufthansa Group. Since 2017, it has operated as a non-profit limited liability company (gGmbH) under the umbrella of the Lufthansa Group. help alliance is committed to empowering young people around the world to lead self-determined lives through access to education. The organization works with volunteer project leaders who are personally dedicated and passionate about creating better futures for disadvantaged people. Latin America is strongly characterized by social and economic inequality. Indigenous populations and people with African-American roots in particular live in socially disadvantaged conditions. In rural regions and slums, there is often a lack of access to water, electricity and education. Violence and organized crime are widespread, with the highest rates worldwide, especially among women. Educational opportunities are also unevenly distributed: Around five million children do not attend school and many young people do not complete secondary school. Although some countries are making economic progress, millions of people live in poverty or are at risk of poverty.

In Latin America, we are committed to supporting children and young people in disadvantaged urban areas with the goal of opening up new opportunities through education and vocational training programs. We accompany them on their way from school to their first job and show them alternatives to drug dealing and organized crime. At the same time, we are committed to environmental protection, as the region is rich in vital forest and water resources. That is why we also promote a mindful approach to the environment in our projects.
