Lufthansa Orchestra on a musical journey

Support for the help alliance initiative “Help for Puerto Rico”

With its traditional fall concert, the Lufthansa Orchestra invites guests this year to take a journey through 200 years of music history in several European countries. The concert on November 6 will take place, like last year, in the new Langen city hall and starts at 7 pm; admission from 6 pm. Help alliance, the Lufthansa Group aid organization, will be in attendance with a stall. Together with the orchestra, help alliance wants to draw attention to the donation campaign “We Help” on the evening of the concert, which supports emergency measures for around 400 Lufthansa Technik staff in Puerto Rico and Mexico. The Lufthansa Orchestra has a special relationship with the island nation. The first major concert abroad of the 60-strong ensemble took place in 2014 on the occasion of the opening of the new aircraft maintenance operation of Lufthansa Technik in Puerto Rico.

Tickets for a price of EUR 12 can be ordered via the ticket portal You can find further information on this site and at

What is on offer musically? The journey begins in the high north with the work of Danish composer and conductor Niels Wilhelm Gade with his “Echoes of Ossian”. The Orchestra will then take a trip eastward to the unconventional Russian thinker Serge Prokofiev, who wrote the first ever film music with his composition “Lieutenant Kijé”.

For the second part of the concert, the Orchestra will stay in Russia and will spend “A Night on Bald Mountain” by Modest Petrowitsch Mussorgski, a representative of Russia in the 19th century. From there, the journey goes on to its final station in the French capital, where guest will be provided musical impressions of Brooklyn-born American George Gershwin, in his work “An American in Paris.”

The role of “tour guide” will be taken on, as usual, by British professional conductor Colin Touchin.
